Putting my new First gen Iron Maiden Fender bass back to stock while telling the story of my parents having the police take me away. The year was 1985 and I was 15 years old. My parents were on a mission to let me know my long hair and heavy metal music would not be tolerated. They used to tell me all the time not only was our house not a democracy but a monarchy. They were also very fond of telling me that everything that was mine was actually theirs as i was not 18
I got a Washburn G2V like I had back in 1988. The seller said it was next to perfect. No Disappointments was the last thing in the description. But guess what... The bridge pickup had fallen apart. We tried to have a civilized discussion about it but no dice. Things devolved quickly and I won. I got my way. Ebay force his hand. But then I took a moment to look at it from the seller's perspective and winning didn't feel so good anymore.
Here are some things to know to keep your Les Paul not only safe from the dreaded headstock break but to also make it play like butter. Tailpiece height and top wrapping are both discussed in full.
As if that isn't enough you will also learn how to NOT crush your bridge.
It may seem like I don't like this bar but take it with a grain of salt classic Washburn lovers, this is just my first reaction to a very different guitar than most. And yes, it has grown on me a great deal since the unboxing. A+ to Music Go Round for their excellent packing and immediate solution to my neck pickup problem!
In celebration of Movember I shave my face to look like the man, the myth, the legend, Lemmy Kilmister and take on this abandoned Kramer Focus 2000. There is a great guitar down deep, I can feel it. For now though its just a damage case.
When a stranger is moved to donating a guitar to The Squishy Guitar Project they become family pretty quick! Check out this strat that was donated by Bill Brotherton to a child with a rare or terminal disease we haven't even found yet.
After years of looking I found a 1988 Charvel Model 6 in the rarest color it was ever released in. I never wanted this guitar but marijuana did play a significant part of the story.
Turning a Tele Partscaster into a Nashville Tele Partscaster. There is one thing about this guitar that really gets my goat!
This Custom Shop Jackson bass Made in 1988 came so close to being lost forever. Watch it get a new lease on life!

I’m just your typical multi-instrumentalist, composer, recording studio owner/operator, guitar repairing, road cyclist, mountain biking, mountain bike trail building, tropical fish and reptile culturist, dog rescuing, commercial deep sea diver.
You know, that old chestnut.
I won a talent search put on by a radio station over 50 other acts

You know, that old chestnut.
I won a talent search put on by a radio station over 50 other acts for a bass solo. I also accidentally wrote a 350 plus page book on music theory specifically on the circle of fifths as it applies to guitar and bass while teaching myself how to use a computer.
This is as small operation so sometimes it can take a while to get back to you, but rest assured I will.

Your guitar or bass is a very personal thing. A guitar is so many things to so many people, I respect that.
-I have overpaid for jobs that were failures.
-I have gotten my guitars back damaged.
-I have had “luthiers” take my money and give me back my instrument, in pieces, no refund, after waiting for years for them to finish it (sadly this happened more than once).
-I have just been flat out lied to about installed parts that I was charged for but when looking inside the guitar were not there.
-I have been told by “experts” what I wanted to do couldn't be done and then saw it elsewhere.
All these experiences are why I learned how to do this work myself. I have fixed guitars and basses for myself and my friends.
Now I would like to do it for you.

To build you up first I must tear you down! Watch as this abandoned guitar goes through the first part of its metal-morphasis!
Long before I met Angie and we formed The Squishy Guitar Project C&M Music gave me Brad's future guitar. Who could have guessed it would be the first guitar we would give to a deserving medical warrior.
Finally some fun stuff! Brad's guitar has its shielding tested and gets a crap load of skulls.
Brad's guitar is getting close. The body gets finished thanks to Seymour Duncan and their generous donation of pickups and potentiometers.
This thing fought me till the end but we have a saying where I am from. Never let an inanimate object kick your ass!
It's time to show them what I did with the guitar they gave me. Will C&M Music be happy or disappointed. Let's find out together.
After the cameras stopped rolling the guys went back to play the guitar without worrying about behaving on video. Unbeknownst to them (but knownst to me) my assistant turned the camera back on.
We finally get to give Brad his guitar! It was quite an emotional night with some special guests to help him celebrate.

One week ago, Angie LaBorde from the Squishy Guitar Project put out a call for 100 guitarists to help give a morale boost to Aiden Garcia, a boy with a medical condition called aplastic anemia. Her idea was to create a video montage of guitar players showing their support. Thanks to the help of YouTube channels like Phillip McKnight, CGS, and others, the goal was SMASHED! By the time of the deadline, over 150 guitarists had responded with videos of support. Aiden recently had a bone marrow transplant at a children's hospital in Houston, Texas and will have to remain in quarantine for 100 days while he recovers from surgery. With help from Eddie Curnan, The Squishy Guitar Project will present Aiden a customized guitar, along with this video montage from members of the guitar community across the globe. If you'd like to learn more about the Squishy Guitar Project and its mission, or to show your support, click here: https://squishyguitarproject.com/All proceeds from this video will go to the Squishy Guitar Project.

In order to explain what that is I need to tell you a little about me.
My “real job” is commercial deep sea diver in the Gulf of Mexico. I have been at it since 1999. I am originally from Seattle and when I came to southern Louisiana I left everything I knew behind. The culture shock was very intense and I got homesick pretty quick. The girl I thought I was going to marry decided she didn’t want to move here and out of loneliness and being very bitter I developed a drinking problem.
As time progressed I started making more money than I ever dreamed of but I was miserable. I tried to drink the pain away, didn’t work. I tried to buy stuff to make the pain go away, didn’t work. In 2015 my drinking was out of control and I was in a dying relationship. When it all fell apart I didn’t know how I was going to be able to go on, let alone ever find purpose or happiness in my life.
I was lucky though. In 2014 I found a page on Facebook called Metal Motivation. The founder, C.J. Ortiz had a private pay group called The Life Domination Online Coaching Program that I had joined.
Early in 2020 C.J. announced that he was shutting down his coaching program. Because I had went from hot mess to a leader in the group he named me as his possible successor. I figured if he couldn’t pull it off how would I. Then I started getting private messages from people in that group. From sad to panicked the message was alway the same, what are you gonna do?
As of March 6, 2017 I have been alcohol free. I don’t go to meetings or anything, I just found a way to stop. After a lot of work on myself I have gotten to the best version of me I have ever been. When I started Rexylab in 2019 I had told everyone that I was going to find a way to use all I had learned to help everyone I could be happier and just better in general.
Now with this opportunity how could I say no?
So I created Rexylab Fortress. About half of the Life Domination Online Coaching Program people came over to the new group. Unlike that group, Rexylab Fortress is free and not a coaching program. It is simply a place for people to help each other become the best they can be. No haters, politics or religion is allowed in the group. There are other places for that. It is simply a place for people to share their victories, failures, life changing events, advice, and support. This isn’t a place where people blow sunshine up your ass, we want to hear your struggles as well as your triumphs.
As the group evolved the members started calling themselves “Fortress Warriors”. I think that is a fitting title.
There are some great people in that group. All are welcome in the Fortress, consider this your invitation.
